Women across the world will today take a few minutes out of their busy pancake cooking schedule to celebrate the ways in which females are finally recognised as the equals of men.
International Women’s Day is globally recognised as the day on which women around the world celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women past and present – all in between making pancakes for whoever wants them.
James Matthews told us, “I’m a big supporter of women’s rights, definitely. I’ve always said a woman can do any job a man can, and yes, I’d like lemon juice on mine, thanks luv.”
“I think it’s disgraceful that in this day and age there are people who honestly believe women don’t deserve the exact same rights as men – oh hang on, this one’s burnt luv, you better knock up a fresh batch – thanks.”
“And if she can’t take a couple of minutes out of her busy day looking after me to recognise that fact, then we might as well be living in 1911.”
International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day will see a number of promotional events run globally, though some men have insisted it is merely political correctness gone all Margaret Thatcher.
Office manager Roger Binbrooke told us, “The sooner we forget about today, the sooner we can get back to the other 364 International Men’s Days. The way it’s supposed to be.”
However 33 year-old Laura Triffit told us, “I think it’s important that on a day like today I take a few minutes out from running around looking after everyone and cooking everything to recognise just how far us women have come in the last hundred years.”
“Now, do you want yours sweet or savoury?”
