Satire has finally triumphed in UK politics. After last nights 'Ask The Chancellor's' debate programme on channel 4 Vince Cable was universally judged to be the winner based on public reaction - primarily due to the fact that he got more laughs than his counterparts.
Sensing a new trend in British politics the Labour party have seized the moment with an announcement this morning that they plan to draught in a team of the countries top comedians to replace their spin doctors. It is said that the team will be led by the man behind Gordon Brown's recently adopted and much ridiculed smile.
"People have been laughing at us for much longer than they have been laughing at Vince Cable" said a government spokesman. "Our governance of this country in recent years has been a joke, and its now time that we capitalized fully on this advantage in readiness for the upcoming election."
Rumours have been circulating around Westinster since the announcement that in the upcoming leaders debate Gordon Brown will be replaced by a comedy puppet created by the makers of 80's TV hit Spitting Image, many of whom are being brought out of retirement specifically for the job.
The government would neither confirm nor deny these rumours, but off the record a reliable inside source told The Daily Satire "I'm not sure anyone would notice the difference."..
