After recieving a warm reception for their recent proposal to ban smoking in all cars all of the time, floated as a response to new research on the effects of passive smoking on children, the Labour government has decided to ban eating indoors.
In a draft report the government pointed out that obesity is a much greater threat to our children than cigaratte smoke, and that a conclusive new report has shown that 95% of all overeating takes place inside buildings. It therefore makes perfect sense to tackle this epidemic by banning all eating inside buildings.
When questioned a labour spokesman said "after more than a decade of making up new laws to introduce, we are running out of inspiration. Also we thought pictures of picnics would look nice on our election posters."
In a related development police anti-terrorism powers previously reserved only for use against peaceful protestors are being extended to cover anyone who "looks at us funny". ..
