One of the world's largest insurance companies announced today that they have signed off on a multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with Al Qaeda
"It just seemed like a natural relationship" a spokesman told us "not only are they one of the most widely known brands in the world, with a heavy presence across a wide range of media, but as a terrorist organization they also share many of the same goals as us. We find the whole idea of terrorising people and making them live in fear very appealing, because the more people are scared about the future the more likely they are to buy insurance just in case anything bad happens. As fear over the credit crunch has begun to fade, we have been seeing a very worrying trend of people thinking positively about the future, and that just isn't good for our business. We see this relationship as a way to address this problem, as well as a great opportunity for publicity"
In a related move the company's life insurance division is bringing out a new product - death insurance - for would be suicide bombers worried about what they will do if their bomb fails to go off and kill them.
