Terror Beneath My Feet I have been asked: “How do you keep weeds from growing in your lawn and garden areas?” Admittedly, my lawn has not always been weed-free. In the past I turned a blind eye to the destruction and unsightly arrogance of the weed. I chose to believe a weed-filled yard was of little importance. I even convinced myself that weeds contributed to society; that each gangly creature deserved the same rights as cultivated flowers; and yes, even grass. I denied the terror they dolled out without remorse. I ignored the feelings of the new-born blades of grass as they were choked and pre-maturely robed of life. I am not proud of the person I was; but alas, I have seen the light, and it is a green light. After years of ignorance and denial I finally accepted my responsibilities. But I was a beginner. I knew I had a great deal to learn. Oh sure, I had courage and conviction, and I proudly denounced the carnage that the weeds perpetrated on the innocent. I did not, however, have any idea how my new-found mission would affect my life forever. I declared war on the weed and the terror that each promulgated. It was not long after my declaration of war
