Giving details of the plan, Anupam Jadli of Mid Day explains, “Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev tried by observing fast but the government remained unmoved as they knew it very clear that Hazare and Ramdev won’t be able to hold on till 10days or so. Hence, we the journalist associations has decided to stage protest by having food festival at road shows. The government knows our potential and by having enough food, we can encourage more and more people across all walks of life to join us.”
Anna Hazare wonders if this non-veg satyagraha will work. If yes, he may follow suite, claim a close aide. The “Food for thought & black money” campaign was pre-launched in the Press Club of India, New Delhi. In an article, Jadli mentioned about the Delhi journalists joining hands to pressurize the government to act ASAP.
The anger has crossed the limits this time as reporters were seen having beer mugs and kabab platters while condemning the government for “sulky attitude” towards the civil society members. Arnab Goswami says it is the “deaf attitude” of the central government that corruption has raised beyond control. Reacting to a commoner’s jibe on staging a “food-fest protest”, Goswami vehemently supported the move and said the government needs to worry much this time as this protest can run for years. “I know it looks odd as breaking news till now has been of starving babas and oldies, but we young guns of India with this new style of ‘fasting’ can handle the government better,” a semi-drunk Goswami said.
Sources said that Anna Hazare is wondering if this non-veg satyagraha will work. If yes, he may follow suite, claim a close aide. Baba Ramdev, after falling ill and seriously hurting his Yoga values is sure to join the movement this time. “Baba will join this food festival against corruption from Friday. He won’t eat meat so paneer and other milk products have been ordered. Once the caterer delivers the items, 11,000 followers will join from Friday,” says a Patanjali Yogpeeth press release.
Meanwhile, almost all bollywood actors extended their support to the Press Club of India’s initiative. “This is a very good effort to pressurise the government on important national issues like corrupt money. I will join the protest from Saturday,” says Shahrukh Khan adding that it will give me added mileage with the media persons who are favouring Salmaan Khan these days.
